Supervised Library Sessions
Supervised library time for Reception to Year 6 – Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 8am to 8.50am
Here at St Andrew’s we are passionate about reading and helping our children to develop a life-long love of literature. The investment in our library is a key component of our strategy. and our intention is that children are given every possible opportunity to make the most of our state of the art library facilities.
With this in mind, we are therefore proposing to open the school library from 8am to 8.50am on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays for supervised library time. During this time, children can enjoy the library for quiet reading. Staff will be on hand both to supervise and to guide children with appropriate book choices. Children who ordinarily attend maths intervention classes may still attend the supervised library sessions but will leave earlier at 8.35am to join their intervention class.
Places on each of these days will be limited to 15 children and places are on offer to children from Reception to Year 6. The arrangement will run on a termly basis and there will be absolutely no charge for the supervised library time, just a commitment to attend the booked session each week. Children will however be expected to consistently observe the rules of the library during the session so that every attendee may enjoy quiet reading time.
If you would like your child to attend supervised library time, please download a copy of the letter which has been emailed to you and complete the application form. Please use this link to access the letter.
You may apply for more than one session.
Please submit your completed application form to the school office by no later than Wednesday 28th March. Places will be confirmed by text message on Thursday 29th March. The sessions will commence from Wednesday 18th April 2018.
