Southgate Office Village Redevelopment

As many of our community will already be aware, plans have been submitted in respect of the redevelopment of  Southgate Office Village in Chase Road next to The Hart pub.

We would like to share information with you regarding an event organised by the Southgate District Civic Trust who are organising an event whereby you can share your thoughts and have a say on how you believe this area should be redeveloped.  This is an opportunity to discuss what you think should be on the site.

At the moment there is a proposal to rebuild Southgate Office Village as a mixed-office and housing development, which will include several tall buildings, including an 18-storey tower.  Southgate District Civic Trust is supportive of any improvement on what is considered a sustainable location, however, the Trust also wishes to ensure that engagement with the community is optimised.

Southgate District Civic Trust is organising a day on 22nd June, to give the people who live or work, or have an interest in Southgate the opportunity to learn a bit more about the decision-making process and to discuss what development you could support on this site.  Their aim is to ensure that the community is at the heart of determining the future for Southgate.

The day will start at 9.30am and finish at 3.00pm in St Andrew’s Church, Chase Side next to ASDA.  You do not have to attend for the full day, but the longer you can be there, the greater your opportunity to feed into the final report.

This is not a Council event and is completely independent of the developer.

Southgate District Civic Trust is an independent voice, for the area covered by the old Borough of Southgate, particularly on issues concerning the built environment.  Southgate District Civic Trust is a member of Civic Voice, the national charity for civic societies across England. Civic Voice will independently facilitate this day. They are not being paid and are doing this as part of their own charitable objectives.

Civic Voice will produce a summary report from the day and will outline the key principles that the community support and object too.  The summary report will be presented back to the community on Monday night at a venue to be confirmed.

This event is free and open to everyone living or working in Southgate or who has an interest in Southgate.

It would be really helpful, particularly with the catering, if you could book via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/southgate-office-village-community-view-registration-62395495607?aff=ebdssbdestsearch
