Harvest Festival

This year we shall be celebrating Harvest Festival at St Andrew’s Southgate Church on Thursday 4th October at 9.30am. We hope that as many parents as possible will either meet us at the church to celebrate this important whole-school event, or volunteer to accompany us as we make a procession to the church.

In past years our school community have been very generous in supporting worthwhile local causes. This year we hope will be no exception as we come together to support the Winter Night Shelter which will be starting again in January 2019. This is a really worthwhile cause which supports those in need in our own community.

As a community school, our focus is always on ensuring that we serve our neighbours and local community by demonstrating our Christian values. The Winter Night Shelter enables us to make a real impact on the lives of people locally who do not have permanent accommodation. Your generous donations are fundamental in providing homeless people with the most basic of living of requirements such as food and clothing. Suggested donations include:

  • New Adult gloves
  • New Adult socks
  • New Adult warm hats
  • Umbrellas
  • Sleeping bags
  • Toiletries
  • Cereal, Jam, Ketchup, sugar, biscuits and packet noodles

Given the costs of running the shelter, Father Ed is also able to accept cash donations. Cheques should be sent to the Parish office and written out to St Andrew’s PCC with a statement that the money should be used for the shelter.

We are hoping to collect as many items as possible for the shelter. Donations may be brought to school (to the main office) during the week commencing Monday 1st October. Furthermore, if any parents would like to assist on Tuesday 9th October sorting through the donations and dispatching them to various local foodbanks, your help would be very much appreciated. Alternatively, if you wish to be involved in running the shelter, please contact Fr Ed directly (Email priest@expertit.net) - he would be delighted to hear from you.

We look forward to welcoming as many parents as possible to the service at St Andrew’s Southgate on Thursday 4th October at 9.30am. If you are able to help accompany us to the church, please let the school office know.
