At Be Free Forest School today, Year 4 at St Andrews became engineers and imagineers, building leaf castles and looking towers from loose parts in the woods.
We spotted birds (oh, so many questions!), fungi and rabbit poo. We measured the depth of the stream and we’ll measure each week to see if it changes.
Hot chocolate was enjoyed after an exhilarating game of hide and seek in the woods.
Our focus today was trees. We touched them, sniffed and climbed them, identified their species and mapped them, wrote stories and made wax crayon rubbings of their leaves and bark.
Year 4 went home this week, tired, but with a new level of appreciation for our life giving trees. Another excellent lesson delivered by nature!
