Christmas Nativity, Carols and Christingle Service - Tuesday 12th December 2017

We are delighted to be announcing a new format to this year’s Christmas celebrations. Whereas in the past only our infants have performed a nativity, this year we shall be involving the whole school. We shall also be combining the nativity performance with a carol and Christingle service making an evening where the whole school will join together to celebrate Jesus coming as the light of the World to show people the way to God.

Proceedings will take place at St Andrew’s Church on Tuesday 12th December 2017 from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, however, in order to ensure a prompt start, we would request that parents, friends and children all arrive at 6pm. Children should arrive in their costumes, details of which can be found below:

Reception: Sheep

Year 4: Shepherds

Year 1: Stars

Year 5: Animals

Year 2: Angels

Year 6: Mary and Josephs

Year 3: Kings

Please note that we are NOT expecting professional shop-bought costumes. Home-made and improvised costumes from old bits and pieces and old clothes/fabrics that you have at home would be greatly appreciated. Please be creative and imaginative!

This is a whole school event and, as it will be taking place at St Andrew’s Church, there are no restrictions on numbers attending and no ticket purchase is necessary.

The retiring collection will be for the Children’s Society and pupils have now received their Christingle collection boxes and these should be returned by no later than Friday 8th December.

We would like to highlight to parents that as the event is combined with a service of worship, it is not appropriate to take videos or photographs during proceedings. We hope that this will also ensure that all parents have a good view of the performances and that parents can fully participate and enjoy the occasion. There will, of course, be an opportunity for parents to take photographs at the end of proceedings; children will be invited to return to the stage in groups so that more orderly photographs can be taken.

We do hope that the whole school community will join together on this special, celebratory occasion which forms the highlight of our Christian school calendar.
